The disability rights movement is not just about the historic legislation, but the vision and demands set forth by self-advocates for accessibility and safety in architecture, transportation, and the physical environment, as well as equal opportunities in independent living, employment, education, and housing. This session will discuss this historic movement and its current work, led by Joseph Jones, Executive Director of the Harkin Institute, and will also take a closer look at ableism and how it shows up in our work.

Understanding Bias and Utilizing Emotional Intelligence to Understand Differences
